Day 2: Atlanta

Waking up in Atlanta is so surreal. I've been waiting for this trip half a year! The morning was pretty chill; enjoyed the spectacular view from our balcony.

Once my roomies woke up, we took a walk to the grocery store and cut through Piedmont Park, which they told me was designed by the person who did Central Park in NYC. It is the most satisfying park I've ever walked though! Despite being in the heart of the city, once on those paths, you can't hear anything but the sounds of wildlife or smell anything but trees. The dense landscape was absolutely breathtaking, as was the humidity. I didn't realize my stomach was so capable of sweating until today.

Tonight was truly what I had been waiting all year for:

I met my Praxis groupies! The two guys with me in this photo are Anthony and Brian. I have a group call with them (almost) every Friday night. Love these two! They are the first friends I made upon getting involved with Praxis. We’ve already helped each other through so many projects and provided a lot of brainstorming power. It is a pleasure to have them as not only classmates, but friends- and an even bigger pleasure to meet them live in 3D!

Our evening at the Loudermilk building was full of delicious food and drinks, as well as great speakers! I thought the fruit and veggie infused water was both really eye catching and yummy.

Tonight we had Chris Smith, CEO of Phix Solutions (an Atlanta marketing agency), alongside Isaac Morehouse, the genius who invented the Praxis program. Great talks about developing ideas, businesses, and about the importance of sticking to work that is meaningful to you.

Prior to this, we had some icebreaker games. Praxis is a unique group: never have I been at an event where the icebreaker game was to come up with a conspiracy theory and try to convince everyone of it. Haha! Great times!

Following the dinner and speakers, a bunch of us went back to the hotel that was hosting the majority of our crew. I had a fascinating talk about unschooling with one of my program advisers and several classmates. Then someone pulled out a card game. I nearly played, but noticed a girl sitting off to the side of the crowd wearing a t-shirt with a Bible quote on it. I opted to start a conversation with her instead. Glad that I did! We had an amazing talk about discovering our faith and her  international missions work, among other things.

By 2:00am, I was beat and managed to catch a ride back to the Air BNB with my newfound friend. It’s been an amazing first day of Praxis weekend. I wish I could always have some of these people nearby like this!
